What we collect
Nothing. FileOrganizerAI does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, files, filenames, folder paths, or usage information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no advertising.
Network access
FileOrganizerAI makes one network connection, and only if you choose to use it: the first time you turn on semantic AI, the app downloads the on-device AI model (~2 GB — Microsoft's public Phi-3.5-mini) from Hugging Face. That download transfers only the model itself — none of your files, filenames, folder paths, or usage data is ever sent. Once the model is installed it runs entirely on your device, and the app is offline again. If you never enable AI, the app makes no network connections at all. There is no auto-update or account.
Your files
All analysis and file operations (move, copy, undo) happen locally on your computer. Your files never leave your machine. The app only accesses the folder you explicitly choose with the folder picker, and any subfolders you include. By default it reads only file names and basic properties; it opens a file's contents only if you turn on the optional "Read file contents" setting — and even then, everything stays on your device.
Data storage
FileOrganizerAI does not maintain a cloud profile or online account. Any settings remain on your device, stored encrypted.
Local activity log
For troubleshooting, the app writes encrypted logs on your own device
(next to the app, or %LocalAppData%\FileOrganizer\logs\). They are not plain
text — you can't read or hand-edit them outside the app:
- An activity log of app actions and counts (e.g. "Analyzed 157 files into 8 groups"), encrypted so only the app can read it back for the in-app activity view.
- Errors and, when semantic AI runs, the exact prompt/reply pairs are sealed write-only — not even the app can read them back; only the developer can, offline, and only if you choose to share the file for support. Prompts contain file names and properties (type, size, date, folder); if you separately enable "Read file contents", they may also include short text snippets that were extracted on your device.
Nothing is ever transmitted anywhere — these exist only so you or support can diagnose behavior locally. Old logs are pruned automatically after about six months, and you can delete them at any time.
Children's privacy
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
