Privacy Policy

Summary: CropAI is offline-first — everything you scan is stored on your device first. Creating an account (phone number + PIN) is mandatory to access the app and enable cloud backup/restore across devices. We don't display ads, sell your data, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

1. Camera

CropAI requests camera access to show a live video preview on screen while you scan a field. The camera feed is never recorded, captured as an image, saved, or transmitted anywhere. It exists only as a live on-screen preview while the app is open.

2. Location (GPS)

CropAI requests your device's GPS location to:

Query regional soil, weather, and solar data for your coordinates from third-party public data APIs (see the table below).
Tag any scan you choose to save with the coordinates it was taken at.
Center the optional offline field map.

You can also enter coordinates manually instead of using GPS. Coordinates are stored locally with each saved scan, and if you're logged in, also backed up to our database so you can restore your scans on a different device.

3. Account, Phone Number & PIN (Mandatory)

Creating an account is mandatory to access the field scanner and enable cloud backup and restore. If you create one:

Your phone number (with country code) is stored to identify your account.
Your 4-digit PIN is never stored in plain text — only a one-way SHA-256 hash of it is stored. We cannot look up or recover your actual PIN.

4. Field Scan Data

Each scan you save (coordinates, soil profile, weather data, and the crop recommendation shown) is stored locally on your device. If you're logged in, it's also stored in our database so it can be restored if you log in again elsewhere.

5. Device & Usage Information

To help diagnose problems and understand basic app usage, CropAI records limited technical information — browser/device type, screen size, approximate device memory and CPU core count, language, and timezone — captured once per session or login, not on every action. It also logs a small number of usage events (e.g. "scan saved," "logged in," error events like a denied camera permission) with a timestamp. This isn't used to identify you beyond your account, if you have one.

6. Who We Share Data With

CropAI sends data to the following third-party services, and no one else:

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. All network requests are made over encrypted HTTPS.

7. Agricultural Advisory Disclaimer

Crop suitability scores and soil/weather data are automated estimates from regional datasets (SoilGrids, Open-Meteo, NASA POWER), not a certified soil test or field inspection. No responsibility or liability is accepted for decisions made using this data. See our full Disclaimer before making planting, financial, loan, or subsidy decisions.

8. Your Choices

Use CropAI entirely offline/locally without ever creating an account.
Log out at any time — your cloud-backed scans remain available if you log back in.
Clear local data at any time via your browser/device storage settings.

9. Children's Privacy

CropAI does not target or knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
